Rear Admiral
Dhiren Vig,
Senior Directing Staff (Navy)

Rear Admiral Dhiren Vig, a Gunnery Specialist was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 Jan 1986. He is graduate of the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, Defence Services Staff College, Wellington (TN) and the Naval War College, Mumbai.

During his career spanning over 33 years, he has been through a myriad of operational and staff appointments. These include Commands of the Guided Missile Frigate INS Betwa, Frigate INS Udaigiri, 1241 RE Missile Vessels INS Nirbhik & INS Vidyut and Second in Command of the Missile Corvette INS Khukri.

The officer’s other important appointments ashore include Naval Assistant to Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, DA to CISC, Staff Officer (Gunnery) at HQFOST, Command Gunnery Officer, Western Naval Command, Commanding Officer INS Kadamba, Director (Navy) at HQ IDS and Principal Director of Naval Training (PDNT) at IHQ MoD (Navy).

On promotion to the flag rank, the officer was appointed at Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) as Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Foreign Cooperation and Intelligence) w.e.f. 02 Apr 15. As ACNS (FCI) the officer in close coordination with Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Defence formulated a number Defence Cooperation initiatives with various countries of interests. The officer was actively involved in making concept papers on strategic projects. The officer was appointed as ADG Seabird w.e.f. 09 Mar 18 till joining as SDS (Navy)/NDC on 01 Mar 19.

For his devotion to duty, the officer has received commendations from the Chief of the Naval Staff and Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern and Southern Naval Command during his career. The officer is a keen Squash Player and has represented the Navy in Squash between 1992 to 1994. He is married to Geeta, who is a homemaker and has one son who is an engineer and presently working for Airtel at New Delhi.


Air Vice Marshal
BV Upadhyay VM,
Senior Directing Staff (Air)

Air Vice Marshal BV Upadhyay VM was commissioned in the flying branch of the Indian Air Force on 07 March 1986 with 137 Pilots' Course. He is a Transport pilot and has over 6800 hours flying on various transport aircraft. He is Right Hand Seat Check Pilot (RHSCP). He has been bestowed with the Presidential award of Vayu Sena Medal in 2012.

The Air Vice Marshal has commanded Para Troopers Training School and was the Air Officer Commanding of Air Force Component in the tri-services Andaman and Nicobar Command, Air Force Station, Vadodara and Advance HQ Western Air Command, Chandimandir. He has held staff appointment of Air-II, HQ Eastern Air Command.

He is an alumnus of National Defence Academy, Pune, the Defence Services Staff College, France and National Defence College, New Delhi.

He is married to Mrs Alpa and they have one son Jai and one daughter Khanjan. He is an avid reader and fond of playing badminton and golf.


Maj Gen U Suresh Kumar, YSM, VSM,
Senior Directing Staff (Army-I)

Maj Gen U Suresh Kumar, YSM, VSM , an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and Indian Military Academy, was commissioned into the 27th Battalion of the PUNJAB Regiment in June 1984. He is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, has attended the Higher Defence Management Course at the College of Defence Management, Secunderabad and also, the prestigious National Defence College Course at New Delhi.

The General Officer has teneted a balance mix of Command, Staff and Instructional tenures. He has commanded a rifle company in Manipur, a Battalion in Counter Insurgency Operations in J&K, a Bde in Counter Insurgency Operations and a Mountain Division along the Eastern Borders.

He has been an Instructor in IMA Dehradun, MCTE Mhow and Directing Staff at DSSC Wellington and the Army War College, Mhow. He has held varied staff appointments that include Brigade Major of an Armoured Brigade, Military Observer in the United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone, Staff in the Military Secretary’s Branch, HQ Integrated Defence Staff and the Chief of Staff of a Strike Corps.

He is married to Mrs Suja who is a Post Graduate in Zoology and they are the proud parents of two sons, Master Gautam Suresh Nambiar who is working in Delhi and Master Gokul Suresh Nambiar who is doing his in B Tech in VIT Vellore.


Dr. Ms. Anju Kumar, IFS
Senior Directing Staff
(Foreign Services)

Dr. (Ms) Anju Kumar joined Indian Foreign Service in 1997. As a career diplomat, she has served in several countries including Argentina, Spain, US (New York) and Israel. Her last assignment was Joint Secretary in Ministry of External Affairs dealing with central and eastern European countries.

She has also served in the Headquarters as Under Secretary (Europe West), Director ((Americas), Director (Latin American Countries) and Director (Multilateral Economic Relations).

As Deputy Chief of Mission in Israel she oversaw the historic visit of Prime Minister Modi to Israel.

She has worked in different wings in the Indian missions. At the Consulate General in New York she looked after education, consular and administration wings. In Spain, she was in-charge of commercial wing of the Embassy. As Third Secretary in Argentina, she got proficiency in Spanish language.

She has studied at Model School Rohtak (Haryana) and did her MBBS from Maharishi Dayanand University. She is married to Mr. Neelesh Kumar, presently Joint Secretary (Cabinet Secretariat). They have two daughters Suhani (17) and Paavni (9).


Mr. Priyank Bharti, IAS,
Senior Directing Staff
(Civil Services)

Mr. Priyank Bharti is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 2001 Batch, Punjab Cadre.

He has done his schooling from Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, New Delhi. Done his Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Computer Science from Delhi Institute of Technology, Delhi University, New Delhi and further done his Masters of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Institute of Management Studies, DAVV University of Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

After the training as Asstt. Commissioner (UT) in Patiala, Punjab in 2002, has served as Sub Divisional Magistrate in Jaitu in District Faridkot and later in Rajpura subdivision of District Patiala in Punjab between 2003-2005. Was posted as Additional Deputy Commissioner in District Ludhiana (2005-2009). Has worked as Deputy Commissioner in Roopnagar, Patiala, Jalandhar and Amritsar between 2009 till 2014. The officer later served as the Director of Urban Local Government, Punjab (2014-16) before moving to the Government of India on deputation in 2016. As the Director, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways handled the issues relating to Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and the rules there under and since 2018 was working as Joint Secretary in Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, handling issues relating to the Motor Vehicles Act and the rules, Transport Sector and reforms, Road Safety, Information Technology and Tolling on the National Highways before being posted in National Defence College

He is married to Mrs. Alaknanda Dayal, an Economics Hons. Graduate from Delhi University, and MBA from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad, who is an IAS officer currently posted as Joint Secretary, in Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi. They have two sons, studying in Class 5th and 12th respectively.

The officer is a keen sportsman with interest in Cricket and Badminton.
