Shri Abhay Tripathi, IAS
Senior Directing Staff (Civil Services)


 

     Shri Abhay Tripathi  is born in 1961 in Patana, he is Post Graduate in History, M Phil in National Security and Strategic Studies, Joined the Indian Administrative Services in 1986 in Andhra Pradesh Cadre.

 

           Worked as Sub Collector-Chittoor, Vice Chairman- Trupati Urban Development Authority, Joint Collector-West Godavari District, Deputy Commissioner (Sales Tax) –Vishakhapatnam, Joint Secretary, Govt of AP,  District Magistrate –Nizamabad, Director (Sales Tax-VAT) in Ministry of Finance Government of India, New Delhi and Additiona l Commissioner, Andhra Pradesh Bhawan, New Delhi

         

            His Last assignment was Officer-on -Special Duty, Andhra Pradesh Bhawan for three years Before joining National Defence College as Joint Secretary & Senior Directing Staff(Civil Services).

 

Rear Admiral DM Sudan
Senior Directing Staff (Navy)


 

       Rear Admiral DM Sudan is a Naval Aviator from the fighter stream with extensive carrier experience on the Sea Harrier. A Qualified Flying Instructor, he has Instructional experience on the Kiran and Harrier aircrafts.   

 

 

          The Officer has commanded two air squadrons, the frontline Aircraft Carrier borne Sea Harrier squadron (INAS 300) and the Sea Harrier training squadron (INAS 551B).  He later commanded Indian Navy’s premier Air Station, home to Fighters, Maritime Reconnaissance Aircrafts and helicopters, INS Hansa, at Goa.Along with flying, he  has extensive experience at sea and has commanded four weapon carrying ships, the missile boat INS Veer, missile corvette INS Khanjar and destroyers INS Ranjit and INS Mumbai

Dr Kheya Bhattacharya, IFS
Directing Staff (Foreign Service)

     Dr Kheya Bhattacharya joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1985.  She has served in Brussels, Dhaka, Paris, Kathmandu and Geneva. She has also served in Ministy of External Affairs.

 

     Dr Kheya Bhattacharya obtained her Ph D in Molecular Biology from Indian Agricultural Research Institute, after completing her B Sc Hons from Delhi University  and Masters from Columbia University, New York (USA). Dr Bhattacharya has also attended the Foreign Service Programme at Oxford University, UK obtaining with distinction the diploma in Diplomatic Studies.

 

     Dr Bhattacharya’s postings have been in Brussels(1986-89) as Second Secretary(EEC), Dhaka(1992-94) as First Secretary(Information, and Commerce), Paris(1997-2000) as Counsellor (Political ), Kathmandu(2004-07) as Minister (Economic Cooperation) and Deputy  Chief of Mission. She was the Deputy Permanent Representative of the Permanent Mission of India to the UN in Geneva(2009-13) prior to joining NDC. In the  Ministry of External Affairs, Dr Bhattacharya has held the posts of Under Secretary ( Americas), Deputy Secretary (West Europe), Senior Programme Director (ICCR –Scholarship Programme) ,  Director (Latin America and the Caribbean), Director (Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Maldives), Joint Secretary (SAARC) and Joint Secretary (Coordination and Parliament). Dr Bhattacharya is single.  Her hobbies include reading, travel and music.

 
Rear Admiral Ravindra Gaikwad, NM
Senior Directing Staff (Navy)


     Rear Admiral Ravindra Gaikwad, NM, is alumni of National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Navigation School, Kochi, Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and College of Defence Management, Secunderabad.

 

     The Officer was the commissioning Commanding Officer of INS Cannanore and also Commanded Naval Ships Nipat, and Brahmaputra. The Officer also served on the Air Craft Carrier Vikrant and Ships Abhay, Porbander and Himgiri. His Staff Appointments include Operations Officer, HQ Maharashtra Naval Area and Command Operation Officer Western Naval Command, Mumbai. His staff Appointments at Naval Headquarters include Joint Director Naval Plans, Director Naval Plans and Principal Director Naval Plans and has also served as Naval Adviser to the Chief of the Naval Staff. He has held a number of prestigious Training Appointments. These were Instructor, Navigation and Aircraft Direction School, Kochi, Senior Directing Staff, College of Naval Warfare, Mumbai and Chief Instructor, Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington.

 

     As Rear Admiral he has held the appointment of Flag Officer Offshore Defence Advisory Group and Advisor to the Govt of India on security of offshore platforms. He was also the Chief Instructor Navy at the DSSC, Wellington and Assistant Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Intelligence A) at HQ IDS a
